About 64-bit compatibility
Frequently Asked Questions about new 64-bit support
Q: What does “64-bit compatible” mean?
A: All current Contex software and device drivers for current scanners are compatible and tested to operate correctly in Microsoft Windows XP 64-bit and Windows Vista 64-bit. For more about these operating systems and 64-bit – including how to identify which version of Windows you have, please visit this website: Microsoft: 64-bit Windows FAQ
Q: What benefit does 64-bit support provide?
A: More and more companies and users are migrating to newer 64-bit versions of Windows as they can take advantage of the 64-bit capable processors (intel Core 2 Duo and later) on newer PCs. Contex has made improvements to Nextimage multi-function software and our WIDEsystem scanner device drivers so that they can support our scanners in this new environment – before it becomes the standard.
Q: Are there two separate versions of each device driver and software – one for 32 and one for 64-bit?
A: No. The same installation is valid for installing in either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows.
Q: Is my scanner compatible with the 64-bit device drivers and software?
A: The latest 64-bit compatible WIDEsystem device drivers and Nextimage software are compatible with the current SD and HD series scanners, including the FLEX50i, as well as the previous G-series models.
Q: I already have a license for Nextimage. Do I need to purchase a new license to get the 64-bit version?
A: No. Your existing license will work when installing the new Nextimage into 64-bit Windows XP or Vista.
